Irving Park Dog Off-Leash Area Rules

• Dogs must demonstrate appropriate social interaction.
• Dogs displaying aggressive behavior toward people or other dogs must be leashed and removed immediately.
• Owners and handlers must accept responsibility for any damage or injury caused by their dogs.
• Dogs must display tags showing proof of current license and rabies vaccination.
• Bring no more than three dogs at any time.

Hondo Dog Park in Hillsboro Oregon is an off-leash dog park that is well-known for being exceptionally well-maintained, and it features three separate areas for dogs to play, one of which is specifically designed for smaller animals. The park is completely surrounded by fencing.

Hondo Dog Park opened in 2007 and was the first to be established in Hillsboro. It is located in Hillsboro’s northeast, near Hillsboro Stadium. The park covers approximately four acres. Hondo Dog Park was named for a Hillsboro Police Department K-9 unit dog who was killed in the line of duty. The park features a fire hydrant in the form of an American flag as a tribute to the police dog.

Hondo Dog Park Amenities

The almost 4-acre park includes a large mixed-size dog play area, a small/timid dog area, and a special winter use area that can be enjoyed all year. The park is open to the public. There are several open grassy areas, trees for shade, dog water stations, and two decommissioned fire hydrants that have been painted and installed by volunteers in the park’s design, which is especially dog-friendly.

The large canine section has a loop around the outside edge. This section of the path allows you to walk while your dog socializes and gets some exercise. A mile is six laps around the track.

The winter section is covered with small stones rather than grass, as is the case in the other two sections, to prevent the area from becoming muddy during the fall and winter months. There is also an agility course on the pebbled side. The agility course is made up of three sections and is a lot of fun for dogs who enjoy obstacles. The other two areas are grassy and fenced in as well.

Winter Area:

• The winter area is open all year and is not affected by the weather.
• Open daily from dawn to 9 pm, with evening lighting for winter nights.

Main and Mixed Dog Area: Closed until further notice

• This area will be closed from time to time during cold or wet weather to protect the grass and keep the dog park fun and safe. Water may not be on all the time.
• The main and mixed dog areas are closed for maintenance every Monday and Thursday from dawn to noon.

Small and Timid Dog Area: Closed until further notice

• This area will close periodically during cold/wet time periods to protect the grass and maintain an enjoyable and safe dog park. Water may not be on seasonally.

Hondo Dog Park Off-Leash Rules

• Dogs must display identification tags showing proof of current license and rabies vaccination.
• Demonstrate appropriate social interaction; dogs displaying aggressive behavior toward people or other dogs must be leashed and removed from the area immediately.

Handlers Must:

• Pick up and dispose of your dog’s waste.
• Carry a leash for each dog in your care, and leash your dog when outside the off-leash area.
• Closely supervise young children. Children under 12 are required to be supervised by an adult.
• Accept legal responsibility for any damage or injury caused by your dog. City of Hillsboro and Washington County are not responsible for any damages or injuries.
• Remain in the off-leash area to supervise your dog, keeping him within view and under verbal control at all times.
• Remove pinch, choke, and spiked collars when playing off-leash to prevent injury.
• Do not bring a dog in heat to the off-leash area (a citable offense).
• Do not bring a puppy without a complete cycle of vaccinations to the off-leash area.
• Never leave your dog unattended. Abandoned dogs will be impounded.
• No food (including dog treats) or alcohol inside the area.
• Comply with all other park rules.
• Use of all tobacco products and vaping is prohibited on Parks & Recreation property.

Hazelia Field Dog Park is an off-leash park in Lake Oswego. This dog park is divided into two areas. The shy and timid off leash area is located north of the parking lot. On the west side of the parking lot is the large dog area. Along with the dog park, the 12-acre community park features playgrounds, an athletic field, public restrooms, ample parking, and about 1.5 acres of wetland. Fresh water and poop bags are available on the premises.

Hazelia Field Dog Park Features

Some people say that Hazelia Field Dog Park is the best dog park in the area. A separate area for active and shy dogs means that you don’t have to worry as much about a big dog hurting a small dog. The fact that there is running water means that the water bowls are always full. There is also a dog-sized drinking fountain that is always filled with fresh, clean water. If your dog gets too dirty, there is a hose outside the entry and exit gates that you can use to clean them off. Poop bags are available in several places inside the play area. There’s also a very clean bathroom to use.

Parking on the north side of the lot provides the best access to the off-leash dog area (see map below)

The larger main park is somewhat more than an acre in size and features a huge grassy area for fetch as well as a mulch walking track that circles its circumference. There are numerous large trees providing shade, picnic tables for relaxing, and covered shelters for protection from the elements (at least for people!). The smaller portion, roughly a 1/2 acre in size, is also lovely. Additionally, it features a surrounding trail, a covered shelter, and various seating areas. Both spaces are equipped with drinking fountains, poop bags, trash cans, and double-gated entry.

Park Rules

• All dogs must be on a leash except in specified “off-leash” areas and under constant owner/keeper control on all park property.

• All dogs on Park Property must be licensed and currently vaccinated.
• Keep an eye on your dog to make sure they are playing nice with others.
• Dogs are not allowed on Athletic Fields unless authorized by the Parks & Rec Department Director.
